HOW TO SELECT FINAL YEAR PROJECT

Selecting your final year project is the most crucial part of the entire course. It not only reflects your learning and studies during the entire course but it will be counted even after you have complicated your degree or your Master degree.

So how do i select a Project which will be an added advantage to me even after i have complecated my degree??? is the question frequently asked by the students.

I think i can help you out in a few stages in figuring out which project is the best may be these few stages can be also called the important stages in your Project life cycle.

lets start from the simple one

selecting a guide or a project supervisor :- Okey i see a smile in your face coz you know it's simple . selecting a guide is Simple Selecting the right guide hmmmm bit tricky let me break it down firstly when your selecting a guide make sure your guide is in favour of student means the guide should support for the innovative ideas given by u, he/she must be encouraging and should support you in certain crucial stages of your project.

ok teachers i know you may be thinking how rude it is to say some teachers are not in favour of students actually i mean to say all are in favour but sometimes there are teachers who is doing thesis in a perticular domain but a student comes seeking for help in a different domain so it will become difficult for us to concentrate in 2 different domains there are chances that our knowledge in that perticular domain may not be up to the mark so it will be difficullt for us to show interest in the project students are doing.

so next is your domain:- stop breaking your head students its just a domain which means an area of territory owned by you that's it.

do not stare at me i will break it down for you just sit and think what kind of job you want to do what u want to be an android developer, java developer ,a network engineer, a informatica consultant, a test engineer, a SAP consultant, and the list goes on so just decide what do u want to be it's okey if you are not sure on what you want to be it happens

we can think of the domain in the other way ok take a pen a paper write down a list of languages you know in a order wait wait not in alphabetical order but in a order of wat to know the best to the worst example i am the best in C then C++ then comes java then i know a bit of Android then Oracle and so on even if you know the defination of that language just pen it down.

Then sort it means sort the languages related to DB and Programming

then strike out the languages which are not in trend because you never want to wear old fashioned clothes

just ask friends or your guide or someone you know which among the languages you know is in trend or booming in IT industries now then start striking

see the below list it's just an example on what i feel is booming in industry and wat i know well

C

C++

JAVA

.NET

PYTHON

PHP

PEARL

ANDROID

HTML

ORACLE

MYSQL

so i am left out with JAVA,.NET,ANDROID,ORACLE

Among them i feel hey i know Java the best i am comfortable i can go with it uffffff finally selected a language

then comes in wat domain you want to use that language let me list down the domains

Cloud computing
Data Mining
Secure computing
Networking
Parallel and distributed systems
Mobile computing
Pattern analysis &Machine intelligence
service computing
Software engineering
wireless multimedia communications
internet computin
g
an so on..
you have studied most of them as a subject or chapter in your academics so you will be having an idea on what you are interested in just select one of them.

At last your domain and language selection is done.

so start selecting your Project TITLE

if you need an IEEE Project Just enter the domain of your interest in the IEEE website and you will get all the papers that belongs to your domain in the website just go through 10 to 15 abstracts i know its more but a little hard work is needed for a bright future wat ever title you are interested just go for it start with the problem statement, aim of the project then Software Requirements Hardware Requirements system analysis and then coding, debugging, testing and so on . .

so this stage it's difficult to begin later you will be more interested and you yourself will be more interested to do your project coz you the Language and you are now in love with your Domain .

Dont forget keep timelines make sure you complete your work on time.
